Mushroom Supplements
Functional mushrooms have moved from fringe to mainstream — and for good reason. Lion's Mane supports nerve growth factor, Reishi modulates stress response, and Cordyceps boosts cellular energy. We review the best mushroom supplement brands so you don't have to guess.
The single biggest difference between products in this category is not the species on the front of the tub. It is whether you are buying fruiting body or mycelium grown on grain. Mycelium-on-grain products are cheaper to produce and the finished powder contains a substantial proportion of the grain substrate, which is why a label may report a high polysaccharide figure while containing comparatively little of the compound anyone is actually interested in.
That is the check worth learning. Polysaccharide content includes starch from the grain; beta-glucan content does not. A brand confident in its raw material tends to state beta-glucan specifically, name the part of the organism used, give an extraction ratio, and publish third-party certificates of analysis by batch. A brand that reports only a proprietary blend and a polysaccharide percentage has told you almost nothing you can verify, whatever the species listed.
